Keen football fans may recognise the name and face of John Turner. Many of the regulars to the Jolly Sailor will be happy to tell you that John has had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus.
John was a professional footballer for 16 years, having played ‘in goal’ for Derby County, Doncaster Rovers, Reading, Torquay United, Chesterfield, Burnley, Peterborough United, and Weymouth Town.
Unfortunately, an injury forced John to ‘hang up his boots’ before he would have wished, but he is thankful for the career he had in the professional game. His love of football continues ... there’s never a live match missed on the big screen.

now, and have become a much valued part
